"It is a joy to be hidden but a disaster not to be found."

Ren Yarbrough (they, them)
Psychotherapist

Ren holds a master's degree in Counseling from The Family Institute at Northwestern University. Their clinical training has included work with both children and adults, individually and in relationships, in practices including Turning Point Behavioral Health Care Center, Chicago Children's Advocacy Center, and Practical Audacity.

Ren is a Black, queer, neurodivergent trauma therapist who uses an integrated therapeutic approach that is queer-centered and kink inclusive and combines their psychodynamic training with an awareness of how systems of power, communities of care, and constellations of relationships shape us and our wellbeing.

They specialize in nontraditional relationship structures, navigating complex life changes, and working with neurodivergent strengths rather than against their vulnerabilities. Ren helps individuals and relationships navigate spiritual, relational and sexual traumas - including those related to evolving, stagnating, or poorly fitting relationships.

They enjoy working with neurodivergent and otherwise marginalized clients, especially in regards to issues of identity, skill building, and loss that can come up around a new diagnosis or navigating evolving life challenges around an old one. Their approach to therapy is collaborative and molded around the clients’ individual strengths, preferences and pathways to joy. Their practice is grounded in humor, humility, and consent-based relationships.
