Isabelle Richards
Psychotherapist

Isabelle holds a master’s degree in clinical psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology and completed her clinical internship at the Carl Rogers Institute at the New Center. Her near decade of clinical experience has taken her from preschools, schools, and advocacy agencies to medical clinics, rape crisis centers, and group practice at the Center for Contextual Change. Isabelle has additional Level I training in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, a talk-based, body-focused approach to processing traumatic memories.

As a client-centered, feminist, trauma-informed counselor, Isabelle strives for deep empathic understanding, unconditional positive regard, and strong therapeutic relationships with her clients. She believes in each individual’s autonomy, innate healing ability, and potential to grow and develop in connection and collaboration, no matter the circumstance.

Isabelle weaves her passion for play, movement, mindfulness, writing and art-making into her work with adolescents and adults based on each client’s need and request. She works with clients from all sorts of intersectional identities (racial, cultural, religious, gender, sexuality, etc.) and specializes in working with attentional variability (ADHD), trauma (including sexual violence and abuse), chronic illness, creative blocks, and life transitions.

Isabelle also collaborates in teaching, presenting, and training on a variety of topics, including group dynamics, the importance of play, mindfulness, child and adolescent development, trauma, and how to support survivors of sexual violence.
